Paper deals with tram rolling stock used in Poland nowadays – overview of car types in operation is given. The detailed calculations of energy consumption by a given tram car running over a given route depend in particular on the work carried out (each route is characterized by, among other factors, its profile, length, number of turns, turn radii, number of stops – scheduled or otherwise, number of transferred passengers, number of brakings with possibility of energy recuperation). Results of energy consumption measurements for different car types in Warsaw are provided and analysed.
